Schedule: March 22-26 (Helaman 7-12)

What better way to celebrate Spring than with the wonderful lessons found in Helaman 7-12.

We are going to learn about what is important, how to embrace the Lord and not the world, and how the words of the Prophets can bring us closer to the Savior.

Read the Book of Mormon daily and study these chapters in Helaman to find out more of what they have in store for you.

Also, check out this latest message for youth on lds.org...it is an inspirational message from President Monson about what is important in life and how to make the most of this journey.

Be true and faithful! Share your testimonies of the Book of Mormon and watch them grow.

Love,
Bro. Sherinian

March 8-12: We are All Enlisted! Alma 46-63 cont...

We continue this week with our feast of missionary moments of courage and faith in Alma 46-58..and beyond thru 63! Thank you for your diligent study of Alma to help us understand some important concepts we reviewed last week. If you haven't done so already, please tell your parents or friends what you learned about:
--the principles of physical battles that can be applied to strengthening ourselves spiritually (remember how Capt. Moroni helped his soldiers win the battle, and how he dealt with the Lamanites?);
--characteristics of a righteous and effective leader that we can emulate;

--recognizing the protection that comes from making and keeping covenants;
--seeing how others find happiness in righteous living, even when surrounded by wickedness, destruction (remember our discussion of wars and rumors of wars?).

With these principles solid in our toolbox (and our testimonies!), we will delve into two of some of the greatest parts of the Book of Mormon.

Monday: The Title of Liberty!

Wednesday: Review Alma 53-58

Thursday: Alma 59-61

Friday: Alma Review

Remember to review our latest scripture mastery verse:

Remember to review these chapters in your Student Manual where there are great maps, helps and resources to help guide your reading. Daily reading is our armor ("sword, buckler and shield"...remember?)
I love your testimonies and your willingness to share what you know, express what you are seeking to learn, and rely on the Lord as you grow. What an exciting time in your lives. I am so proud to be able to start the day with such fine examples - true soldiers of truth and kindness who love the Savior.
Love,
-Bro. Sherinian

Schedule: February 1-5; great missionary lessons in Alma!

We continue learning about great missionary moments in Alma this week. These important lessons of the Book of Mormon help us realize how to teach with respect, purpose and power. We will have more comments and quotes from modern-day prophets about how Ammon, Aaron and his brethren taught and testified...and the examples they are for us today! And don't forget Abish (pictured here). We'll learn about her on Monday!

Monday: Alma 19-20
Tuesday: Alma 21-22
Wednesday: Alma 23-26
Thursday: Alma 28-29
Friday: Alma 30

We will continue the excellent Scripture Mastery Talks this week. Special kudos to Paul and Tiffany for starting us off on such an excellent path. I love hearing these talks, and the fantastic levels of understanding they offer each of us. We will have three more talks this week, starting with Rachel on Monday. As the year whizzes by, are you memorizing all 25 Book of Mormon scripture mastery verses? There are tons of resources to help you...ask your parents or friends to help at home. You cannot learn them unless you are putting time into it outside of class. Check out this great memorization tool and game I found that can help you memorize on-line!

I love you, your examples of faithfulness, and watching your testimonies of the Book of Mormon grow! Be Ambassadors of the Book of Mormon!

Love,
-Bro. Sherinian

What can we learn from Ammon's meeting with Lamoni's father? Read in Alma 20 to find out!

A New Year - the Book of Mormon in 2010! (Schedule for January 11-15)

Dear Students:

Thank you for a wonderful start to 2010 last week. We completed Mosiah with a wonderful group of discussions that helped us draw important lessons from some powerful words and scriptures.

This week we begin our time in the Book of Alma. This book covers a short period (40 years) but has some amazing missionary moments and is sure to be one of your favorite memories of your Book of Mormon study this year.

Be sure to do your reading in advance and come to class (6:30a.m. sharp!) ready to learn, share, explore, and prayerfully learn what the Lord wants us to understand.

Review the chapters in your Seminary Student Manual that will help you learn and grow. I am attaching a link to those chapters here.

Monday: Mosiah re-cap and Alma 1
Tuesday: Alma 2-4
Wednesday: Alma 5+6
Thursday: Alma 7
Friday: Alma 8

We will update the schedule and send it to you, your parents, and leaders later this week. In the meantime, thank you for your examples of faithfulness, your loving service to others and your excellence in studying (and likening!) the scriptures.

You're amazing.

Best,
-Bro. Sherinian
